Senior SW Engineer for JAVA
My career at Diebold Nixdorf
How we communicate across 3 continents in a day
A few years ago I felt I would need a really big change and I got an offer to help with test automation at Diebold Nixdorf. This didn't fit in my idea of a big change because I had had a lot of experience from the previous job with test automation, but I decided to take the job interview.
During the meeting, I was surprised by the number of opportunities Global Center Pilsen offers. We talked about my preferences and what I would like to do, and we gradually aligned our expectations with each other. Enthusiasm, helpfulness, professionalism and quick action - all this convinced me that Diebold Nixdorf is the right place for me.
I accepted the offer to become a Team Leader for Delivery because it was different from what I had been doing so far. And it perfectly fit into my idea of change. I didn't hesitate. After joining the company, I was surprised how well I was accepted by my new colleagues. I know I can always rely on my team and I do my best for my team to count on me every day.
Working in a global center can sometimes be a challenge. Where else can you deal with an IT problem in Saudi Arabia, Austria, and the United States in a single day? Although we are mostly in Pilsen, we communicate with colleagues from around the world every day. Sometimes it is necessary to deal with all the pitfalls, such as different time zones, cultural differences, etc., but it is worth it.
The flag decorations in our open-space are the best proof that we do projects all over the world. And they’re not small projects. We work for the world's largest banks. Such experience one does not get anywhere. On the other hand, we also do small projects that will bring new customers to us.
As a team leader, I am happy to see people growing up with individual projects and gaining more and more experience. I am pleased that students are given an opportunity at Diebold Nixdorf. We have prepared part-time jobs for them to combine work and studies. They can apply all their theoretical knowledge in practice.
