Senior Java Developer and Team Leader
My career at Diebold Nixdorf
How I started leading my own team at GC Pilsen
A decision made right at the job interview
I worked in a small family business before, but I got to the point where I could no longer develop technically or career wise. I was thinking about multiple job offers at that time and the Global Center Pilsen interview convinced me immediately. It was factual and professional. In other places, special generic tests were carried out which, in my opinion, can never reveal an individual's potential or weaknesses. The interview here was factual and construed in order to see if we would get along with each other.
Research & Development: A great team
We started with eight people at our department. As we grew over time, it was becoming increasingly difficult to coordinate one big team. So, there was a reorganization and I was in charge of one of the teams. I had some experience with leading people from the past and I was able to successfully negotiate with management.
There are over 30 people in R&D team now. We are divided into four smaller groups and each is managed by a team manager and a scrum master. Most of the members are more experienced colleagues, but we have also employed several graduates. At the moment we have six different nationalities and our four Brazilian colleagues are especially a lot of fun. Relationships here are at a good level, which I really appreciate.
Possibilities to build career and expertise
I like the fact that tasks often change and new challenges emerge. In addition, the technology is still moving forward and I can be involved with it at GC Pilsen. I'm glad I’m not stagnating and that I’m still learning something new. From my position, I have learned to work with people from all over the world in different roles - from leaders and senior management to consultants and support.
The fact that GC is part of a multinational company offers a great range of opportunities for long-term growth. Graduates and more experienced colleagues will find jobs with us. There are positions for programmers, testers, consultants or architects here.
